"6X" series tractors (2,3,4,5000) had two styles of power steering. Mar. 1968 and older had the resevoir above the pump connected to it by hoses. Apr."68 and newer had the pump integral with the resevoir. As long as it was empty was the perfect time to change the filter, becuase if it"s like most we had come in, the fiter has never been changed. The filter for the new style (from New Holland) will come with a new o-ring for between resevoir and pump body. The hoses on the old style probably won"t come to $10 so if it"s that style change them as well.
