Both Ideas are good,just depends on what you have and your needs.IF you can spare a tractor then maybe go the PTO idea,BUT if you have any hi-tech Electronics (do not repeat do not)Try Loum's idea of running you engine less than PTO rated speed.Your Governor won't react good enough to maintain your cycles.(60Cycles are more important than maintaining 120 volts) I have 4 PTO units and 1 Engine unit and they have run anywhere from Couple Hrs.to 2 weeks non stop,but then they may set a year and not be needed. IF it is a good Gen.and you can find a cheap Diesel go that route.Good Luck with what ever you decide.
