An "overrunning clutch" (ORC) is used on the PTO shaft of tractors without live PTO, to allow the mower to coast slowly to a stop without propelling the tractor forward, even though you have depressed the clutch pedal, while the tractor is still in gear. A "slip clutch" is a torque-limiting device that will slip if the mower blade hits an obstacle, to limit damage to the blade, gearbox, and driveline. Some rotary cutters have a replaceable shear pin, instead of a slip clutch. They are two different devices, performing different functions.
