Classis powerstroke problem. The cam position sensor design is poor & they tend to get flakey after a while. Takes about 10 minutes to replace one, they cost about $150 at the dorf dealer, $100 from mail order places, & maybe cheaper on e-bay. One for an IH DT-466 engine will also work. Obviously, there are other possible intermittant problems, but the CPS is where I'd look first. If a new CPS doesn't fix it, throw the old one in the glove box as a spare because you'll eventually need it. Just replaced the one in my '99 a couple months ago. Keith
