I have a 5 speed trans so I can only tell you what the manual says about the 4 speed. Remove the 9 bolts on the cover and lift the cover off. NOTE!!!!! there is a shift rail spring and detent ball that the cover holds down. Watch for these and remove. Back off the pivot bolt and align the shift plate finger into the shifter rails. Make sure the gasket is still good on the piviot bolt and install bolt. Replace the spring and detent ball on top of case. Install gasket and top with the gear shift lever positioned into the gear shift plates.
