Been my experience the good but common as dirt engines will bring about a buck a cube at a salvage yard. Less common and more sought after engines ie; Chevy big blocks can run 2 to 3 bucks plus a cube depending on condition. What suprised me is I have an 84' Chevy K-10 I want to pull the 454 out of and replace with a 250 or 292 straight 6. These were common as dirt 10 years ago. But I haven't been able to locate one worth rebuilding at least locally. Apparently these were too common for their own good.
