By 'little kids' I suppose you meant human children. IF you meant young goats the results can be the same.
The trees may be in the way of a game or they're weeds to be removed and the children are (in their mind) doing you doing you a favor. The mission in life for goats is to eat sprouts.
The lack of teeth marks say not horses. The plants still being intact says probably not goats.
Kids will be kids either way. :)
