Allen, Here is a wild thought. Open the door until it hits the brace and them cut the bottom of the door at the same angle as the brace and hinge it so that the bottom part tips up and the door opens as far as you need it to. Hinge it to tip inward. When you close the door you can then lower the bottom portion and shut the door. I am sure that you can figure out some sort of closing mechanism that will keep the bottom portion rigid when the door is closed. I agree with you, forget the well and work on the door, Bud
