I'm in MA. No need to build a stand. The deer come right up to the house. Last night, I was in the barn working with the lights and radio on. I walked outside and nearly tripped over a doe. We were no more than ten feet apart when she decided to bolt. I see deer most days within 100-150 feet of where I am standing. No, I don't feed them but they seem to like the apples and other earlier tree fruit drops that I have in abundance. I am not a hunter, don't even own a gun. Just as well. I'd probably hit one of my neighbors.
