I'm a Long 610 owner also, 1981 model I bought new. It has started to get blowby, but I don't know what could be the oil problem. However, I looked in my manual and it calls for 10.6 quarts with filter change.

I had performance problems and found that the air breather intake was clogged with crud after 20 years. Cleaned it out and washed the metal mesh in the filter and blew it out. Let it sit overnight to get rid of fumes. Maybe a clogged filter could create a vacuum problem, but I'm having a hard time visualizing it. If I get a chance I'll ask my Long dealer about the problem.
