I will be 30 in two weeks. When I was 5 I could drive my grandfather 2n with my mom on the seat, I worked the clutch and everything else she was the safty net. When I was 10 I ran a Farmall H with a sickle mower, self propelled swather, and a 560 with the drag in the corn field. At 11 I was moved up to the 666 with the 4 row cultivator. This was my summer job at my uncles in SD. At these ages I was growing up in Denver Co. these were the only times I was around tractors. If your kids have level heads they should be just fine. If you are concerned and looking at antiques, my opinion, find a hand clutch. In reaction time I think its easier to grab with my hand than push with my foot.
