For most all intents and purposes, they are basically the same exact tractor. The 1086 will have a nice cab and the extra power from the turbo.

All depends on what you want to do with the tractor; don't cut that 966 short, they are one heck of a bull. Just doesn't quite have the "umph" nor the nice cuishy cab like the 1086 has, but they ride a lot smoother than the '86 series too.

Both are heavy work tractors and aren't worth a darn for just "putzin" around. Both are very expensive to repair.
