{If you really believe... } I like that response. When hunting, you can occasionally get a moving deer to stop by whistling. So, will he stop in your lane or off to the side of the road? Second observation: cats. I like cats, but the durned things WATCH you coming and then try and dart out at the last minute. Perhaps deer, being used to having a speed advantage, know the car/truck is approaching but figure thay can out maneuver it and/or lead it away from the spot. Locally: folks who have them and have hit deer have less faith in them than folks who have them and haven't yet hit a deer. ;-) Anyone old enough to remember the "Witch Deflector" buttons we used to get at the Saturday Matinee horror movies? Same principle.
