My 2001 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0L inline 6 had to be short-blocked at 48,000 miles. Bearings eaten away by an internal anti-freeze leak. 4000-miles later, it ate the camshaft and camshaft position sensor, leaving me sitting on the side of the road. Now I can't keep coolant in it, and Chrysler can't find the problem. No more (modern) Jeeps for me. Chrysler did cover the repairs under the extended warranty. But I had my ducks in a row; photo of the oil pressure at zero, oil analysis (the lab said,"Don't drive this engine until it's been checked.") YMMV. Worst vehicle I've ever owned.
