Some shops just charge too much.Neighbor had an old ford starter that was giving trouble.Called a big shop, got a 100.00 quote.I put new brushes in it and gave the commutator a light turning,the bushings and drive were ok.Charged him 10.00.Was in an electric motor shop. Labor rate was 70.00 per hour.Was hunting for a magneto cap, a shop in Maine gets 93.00 per hour labor for mag work.Tried to get a brush rigging for a 96 ford starter. shop said 40.00.Got one for 16.50 including priority mail.
