Excessive Oil Pressure in IH 574

Ok folks, got this 574 out of the woods a few weeks ago after sitting for a few years. Drained 2-4 quarts of water out of the crankcase. Freed up the pistons, changed head gasket and installed new oil line to oil pressure gauge, amazed that the cylinders were still in good shape. Installed new elect. wiring, and started it up. Blew the spin-on oil filter right open!! I am waiting for the IT manual, but can I assume the pressure switch is located on the oil pump in the oil sump and it is stuck??
