This is really a topic for another forum, but since this subject was started, here goes! I feel we 'earthy country types' are the most patriotic people in the U.S. What was the last major unifying event that happend in this country? It was WW2 and it ended in 1945. My dad said that during and after the war no one in the U.S. even thought about degrading our country because the patriotism was so strong. Today a large majority of those strong patriots are gone and the people coming into influence today are two generations away from them. The patriotism to our flag has slipped because of this gap. When I started school back in the late fifties, every morning we said the pledge, with our hands over our hearts, while we stared at the flag on the wall. Today that practice is long lost and so naturally some of the flag ettiquete is gone too. Will the youngsters starting school today even fly the flag? Jim
