I don't have an actual measurement for you, but they aren't very thick. I've found that as long as you have clutch lining present, you shouldn't have any problem with them. There is no Neutral really on the forward reverse cutch. It locks over center in forward. To keep it in reverse, you have to hold pressure on the handle. Its not supposed to lock into reverse. If it does, there is definitely an adjustment problem. These are wet friction clutches, so having the proper type and level of oil in the transmission makes a difference also. 30 weight engine oil. a quick quess, It sounds like your linkage is not adjusted properly. If you go to http://www.oldgravelys.net (you can click it at the end of the message too) you can download the service manual for the machine, as well as for any attachments you have. Also parts list and operator manuals if you need them. The manuals will tell you how to properly check the clutches, and adjust the linkage. The parts list might help you determine if anything is missing. The person running the site is very knowledgeable with these machines, and will be able to help you greatly also.
