Where there's smoke, there's fire; and where there's fire, there's fuel. So, if it's smoking, the fuel should be getting in there. So, it's not igniting. That could be timing, compression, or a lack of heat. Are the glow plugs working? Could be something simple like that. Beyond that, I'd recheck the timing, and perhaps the valve setting. There could also be a problem with the injectors (spray pattern). I don't know much about that particular engine, and I'm sure there are other experts here that can help you out a lot more, but I'll say this. I've often found that a problem will be found in the one area that I had absolutely ruled out, that it simply could not be, because I'd checked it already. After trying multiple other things, and ruling them out systematically, and going back to a list of possible causes, I'd come back to the first thing I ruled out... It's happened more than once because I was too stubborn to go back and double check.... Good luck. Rod
