I have a 92 chevy truck with a 6.5 in it and it has the best heater of any vehicle I have ever owned. It even warms up and blows hot air real quick! I suspect your thermostats are not closing properly. It should have 2 in it beings its a 98. My old truck just has the single thermostat crossover on it.
