I have only one scrap buyer withing 30 miles of me (central New York). His price at $50 a ton is for the car/truck with tires off - he strips the rest. I checked around trying to find out what the U.S. average for scrap is - and found that it is posted on a daily basis. The commodities market on scrap uses specific classes for automtoive scrap. The lowest valued being "uncrushed" - with tires, fuels, and refrigerant removed. That is what I was referring to. Next step up in value is "crushed", and higher yet is "green crushed." The latter has fabric, oil, and plastics removed.
