You will want to watch the advice about baits. Unfortunately the vermin (mice in our case) tend to die inside of walls and other hard to get at places. The stench from a small mouse rotting behind the drywall is sickening. A dozen rats??? I like the sticky trap I saw on a TV show a while back. Bait was placed near what must have been a strong flypaper so they did not run off and die in the ducts.
