Skunks are a gentle and sociable animal. I hate to see harm come to them. They will not cause any damage and are quite friendly. When mama gets her kits up and around, she will start taking them outside. When she does, block all the openings she has been using and she will find another den away from the buildings. With the warmer weather they will look for more remote areas. Skunks can even cohabitate with dogs if you can educate the dog to not harrass them. Skunks only spray for self defense and actually don"t like the smell any more than we do. The primary diet of skunks is small rodents, bugs, grubs and beetles and often carrion, so they are quite beneficial.... Gene
