electronic ignition

I recently purchased an electronic ignition kit for a WD-45. I tried to install it and nothing seems to work. The plate that should be held on with two screw the holes do not line up with the plate on the distributer. The shaft on the distributer is bigger than the black piece that should slide down on the shaft. Has anybody had any experience with this. Do I have the wrong distributer or the wrong kit? The numbers on the kit match the numbers on the web site. Help
