other than it being a chevy ......... just kidn quite a difference in body styles, i believe the 5.3 might get a little better mileage than the 5.7 i have owned a 97 and 99 suburban and they got 14 to 18, the 97 was much better than the 99 a good friend had a 5.3 in his 1500 pickup and it was around 18 to 20 on the highway no real troubles with any of them that i am aware of, trannies, transfer cases, etc..... seemed fine
