I know I have seen colored duct tape before - maybe at Lowe's or Home Depot I'm sure they have black... How about this idea though: Why not make some nice little brackets that you attach with the bolts that hold the tin on and have an upholstery shop make up some snaps - then the cover can just snap right onto the dash and stay put. It would work great and look more professional than duct tape...
