I don't know what your land is like. But, I needed a small dump on my farm - but a 2WD dump truck - here - is useless. Land is too steep in-between fields. And, 4WD dump trucks at a reasonble price are scarce. I finally bought a 85 Ford F250, 3/4 ton, four-wheel drive, diesel for $500. I then put a slide-in dump bed into it. No modifications needed - it just slides into a standard bed. Bought the dump-unit used for $600. The truck has a payload rating of 3600 lbs., and the dump-body insert weighs 800 lbs. - so with the dump installed, it can haul (legally) 2800 lbs. I don't have it registered for the road anymore and run it on farm diesel a.k.a. heating oil -which is an added bonus. Works great for an $1100 rig.
