That transmission is heavy, too much for a floor jack to balance, try to rent a transmission jack. If you do find problems with the clutch it self, that diesel has a dual mass flywheel. Should you need to take it down, be advised it weighs in the neighborhood of 100 lbs, and when the last bolt comes out, it comes DOWN, no alignment pins. Does sound like your problem is the hydraulic slave cylinder though. luck.
