ot/ rust issues

hi, i got a question regarding a 1975 chevy k20 im looking at. my grandpa had a 73 and it rusted really bad because gm went to thinner sheet metal for a few years to save money. is it true? and would the 75 be fine or would that be the cheaper construction also. the owner said there isnt much rust on it for a 75
