I really appreciate each of your responses. I intentionally gave little information in my initial question so as to get even more objective responses. While we are cousins on good terms, and enjoy each other's company, we don't have a lot of contact. When we started out, his 34 gallon gas tank was empty. When he headed home, his gas tank was full and I gave him a nice little chunk of cash. The trip was a hard job for his little half-ton truck, and I figured I'd rather over-pay than under-pay. He certainly didn't expect me to "pay" him as I did, but I felt I just couldn't do less. Having good friends/relatives who are there for you when you're in a bind sure means a lot. Glenn FitzGerald
