Someday someone has to explain that Michigan thing to me. In my area of New York, the soil has to be pretty acidic or the potatoes get real scabby. General practice here is to plow new land that was previously scrub - for potatoes. Pasture that's been limed doesn't work - nor does any other cropland.
But - I got to Posen, Michigan every year for their potato festival. It's potato farming comunity - mostly all Polish farmers. And the soil is sand and lime. And, their potatos seem to grow. So how come it works there, but not here?
