Good thinking however let me point out The ORIGINAL distributor i took out had 6 lobes Not a mag but a rusted junk dist. I took the gear off the 6 lobe dist and put it on a 4 lobe dist which was good There fore the gears have the same ratio of 1.5 to 1. Whatever the original use the 6 lobe dist (not a mag) turned 1.5 revolution each time the cross bar drive turned once. Your right if it was a mag but the junker is a 6 lobe dist. I still wonder if oliver or something has a different ratio ignition drive gear off the cam than the crank gear.???? Say to save space on the side of the motor the ignition drive was 2/3 of the crank gear Example 36 tooth crank gear and 24 tooth ignition gear still having a 72 tooth cam gear then this could work. It sure has me thinking!!!!!!!!
