thanks everyone I'll try some of that tomorrow. This is about a 5 yr old HP so it should have Cd's with it. If not I think I still have a set of restore disks I made on mine that should work also. She said it used to only do this after using it for a while and then stopping for a little bit. Now it won't even go to a screen. If I can get it to sontinue after Safe Mode I'll try the VGA and see what that does. Is it possible to hook my laptop to it with a networking cable or something and work on the drive that way? I can't open hers to do the network from that side would be the problem I guess but I have never set up many networks.
