dry sleeve doesnt come in direct contact with the cooling jacket in the motor, the cylinder bore that the sleeve fits in is closed from the cooling system, a wet sleeve when installed the outer wall is in contact with the coolant. wet sleeve usually has an o ring at the bottom. wet sleeve usually is easier to get out, most times you can take the head off and roll the motor arond, the sleeve will come up. dry sleeve you usually need a puller to get em out.
