I used a drop spreader to plant mine, set the drag disk very light & pulled a spike tooth harrow behind it. You'll be better off with just alittle dirt on them, even if they are setting ontop of the ground they will come up with moisture. If you get them to deep or a hard rain creates a heavy crust, you can forget it. Should work out good for you, don't worry.
