I was in the 90th. Division, in France, in 1944! Was assigned to my unit: B Company, 357th. Infantry Regiment, approximately July 16-17, 1944. Saw action from the hedgerow country up to Mazieres-le-Metz! Took part in the liberation of Mayenne, Le Mans, The Falaise Gap action, and walked across much of that part of France! I was on an outpost when somebody stepped on an anti personnel mine, and i lost my left foot, my upper teeth, the end of my right index finger, and had several other leaks in my anatomy! This happened near Mazieres-le-Metz. Made it home, and have no regrets. Have lived a full life, no sickness to speak of, and have found many friends in this column! France is a nice country! But, i never went back! No flying, or boats for me. Lawn tractors, motorcycles, cars and pickups give me all the excitement i need! Thanks for your interest: Rusty Jones
