I don't think you will get the gas mileage on the V8 as you did on the V6, but i think you will like the V8 performance. I have a 1981 XR7 Cougar with only 53k miles. My wife's sister bought it new in 1981 and when it had 15k on it my brother-in-law told her to get rid of it since it was wore out. I bought it in 1985. It has that automatic overdrive. It has the 302 cid engine. I call it my Mercury truck since it has a large trunk and will haul a heavy load. Hal
