The Parkmaster was the 7 gang reel mower power unit. They were made for many years. In fact my dad sold the very last one made around 1992 or so. The straight tractor for pulling gang mowers and such was called the Bullet. Strangely enough when my dad first sold Toro, he sold the last Bullet made to the same golf course that bought the last Parkmaster. Only difference was the Bullet was sold in 1959. The tractor with the dump box was called the General. It had a 2 1/2 ton rear end. The Bullets and Generals used surplus world war two Ford industrial engines. The Parkmasters may have had Fords as well. The newer Parkmasters could also be equipped with diesels. I remember when the last Parkmaster was delivered. There was a young guy who just started and my dad got him to drive the Parkmaster to the golf course. The golf course is the Highlands Golf and country club in Edmonton and is the second oldest here. It was built in 1929. Some of the long holes which were the reason for a second parkmaster had to be shortened because a major freeway and bridge was put in. There is a tunnel through the concrete bridge wide enough for golf cars to go through. The freeway is now called Wayne Gretzky Drive and leads to the hockey rink. Seems kind of interesting. Dave
