I thought of one other thing that I might mention. When I recharge the battery now in the tractor, the charger will click off and on then resume charging. This may be typical of some chargers but it does this after only charging for a few minutes. The battery does seem to have enough charge to then start the tractor but then goes dead after a few starts -- even if the tractor has been running for 2-3 hours under load at full throttle. After reading the posts (which I appreciate), I'm beginning to think the new battery might be at fault (or my charger is going bad). I did have the battery checked by a mechanic (not at the place where I bought the battery) and he said the battery was OK. Still stumped. Pat
