I'm with old on this one. I have two fields I have yet to cut. I don't want to lose the field after cutting and am hoping to get the first cutting off in the next two weeks, and get a second one in before frost. One thing is for sure, the windows for cutting drying and bailing have been plenty long. By now the semi loads of hay should be passing by my place on their way south and west with extra hay. I have not seen one go by yet. I am guessing most around these parts have sold it locally or are keeping it for their own use. While the rainfall totals in our area are near normal, the vast majority of it fell in early June and has all but stopped since then. On the flip side, there looks to be a bumper crop of corn growing though with many fields showing 7-10 foot tall plants and larger than normal ear counts and size that look to be surviving well. They also show little signs of stress from the drought condition, at least in this area. Hopefully those with corn fields planted can make up the difference.
