If it was me I'd have it checked by someone in your area that knows Dodge and Cummins.I have a 2004 with the same engine only my truck is a quad cab 3500 1 ton dually. I pull gooseneck trailers on a dailey basis. I also have friends that have same engine. Mine is stock,no modifacations and my friends are stock also. I'm not saying this to put any truck down, I have towed with 460 Ford, 454Chevy and power stroke Fords along with the Dodge/Cummins. My Dodge and the friend's Dodges that I mentioned will eat the 460 and 454 for breakfast and get at least twice the MPG. If yours don't then something is wrong and you need to have it checked.
