I ran Castrol GTX in my old Ford Ranger and then the little Ford Escort that I had, always seemed to work good for me. Once I ran out, and Mobil was on sale, so I used that instead. I was a quart low 2000 miles after the change. I went back to the Castrol for the next change, and the oil level stayed at the top of the stick.
Not real evidence, but it was enough for me. I recently just switched over to Penzoil Platinum for my car because I was able to get a good deal on it, Ill probably run that with a 5000 mile change interval (which is what is listed for my car on dino juice anyway)
In my Farmall M Im running Rotella 10w-30, but I would probably also use Wolf's Head or Kendall, just out of habit.
