I"ve had a couple Chevy Astro"s (same van) and worked in Chevy dealer service dept. for many years. Your problem is most likely a vaccuum leak, just like Kansas Cockshutt said. You should begin by looking at the vacuum source hose on the intake manifold. I"ll bet you find it soft and leaking at the fitting. To get to that, you need to remove the engine cover. The hose plugs into the rear of the intake manifold. Also trace that hose to the big, black vacuum reservoir and make sure the hoses on the check valve are okay, too. 99% chance this will fix your problem. Good Luck and God Bless, Tommy
