low oil pressure?

i have a question about oil pressure in an engine. when thes low pressure, i know that means it's wearing out. but whats wearing out? pistons, rings, bearings? the reason i ask is because i know a guy with a farmall C for $850 and claims it has suspicoisly low oil pressure so i want to know what i'd be getting into here
