Just looked at a new Case IH combine. They now have an Iveco engine in them instead of the American born and bred Case-Cummins. The big tractors are next to lose the CDC engine I was told. Stands to reason since our (American) companies are owned by foreign companies now. Our neighbor bought a Cat combine with a 40' header and has since learned they don't stock many parts at the local dealer and if the warehouse doesn't have it, it can be many days to get a part from across the pond while your crop is exposed to weather and the neighbors farm circles around you. Progress?

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity".
