You may also find the starter ring gear on the flywheel is different. Teeth may be slightly bevelled on the 'front' edge to allow easy engagement/disengagement. Brushes in starter may be OK for reverse direction, but brush-holders may have been designed for one way operation. Obvious problem with bendix. You may well find the flywheel has the ring gear installed from the other side or is just a completely different part number. All ways round, you need to check the parts book carefully before doing anything. Try the International forum as there will likely be someone who has come across this problem before. Regards, RAB
