You know? I heard this AM on the radio news that the mosquitos popping up now are "NOT the sickly ones that carry west nile virus, just everyday old mosquitos". And the first thought through my thick skull was, "How the heck do these guys know if they're capable of carrying west nile or not?". Why couldn't or wouldn't they? I'm not saying that they are or aren't, but why couldn't they? West nile seasonal and we're past the season? Like you, I wouldn't bet on it either.
Mosquitos in north central Indiana on the Michigan border are brutal. Last weekend out by the woods were brutal, except when on the tractor. After shutdown the tractor...dive bombed me mercilessly. I made it back to the house covered with welts and everyone asked what happened to me. Mosquitos by the woods...brutal. They didn't believe me. I'm out of town this week and call home every night and they say that near the house are brutal now. Let the dogs out, when they come back to the house minutes later are covered. Thank God for heartworm preventitive. Up until last weekend my lab was lethargic and nearly drank himself to death, slept a lot, totally out of it. Vet put him on antibiotics, and a couple of days later his old self again. Maybe he had it? Don't know.
Hope you're feeling better, and hope I or no one that I know never gets it.
