Havvey, Anything that can wear out is a very risky investment. A car might be pretty valuable in 50 years, but you will have to keep it clean and dry for that long in order to find out. Even then it's a gamble (consider the Edsel). A good tractor will pay for itself over time, but when it comes to collectibles, the market is pretty fickle. Some folks make a lot of money, but most folks lose in that gamble. I agree with Dave. Good quality firearms will hold their value, but many won't gain much. Real estate is the most secure for long-term investment, but even that can slump from time to time. There is only one 100% sure investment I know of.
