Great pictures Caleb. Back in 1988 I visted College Station and saw a football game at A&M. They were playing Rice I think. I haven't seen either picker yet, as I'm not as involved in the cotton industry as much as I used to be. As someone has already said, the Case was trialed here in Australia this year, but as yet there is no sign of the JD. Most people I have talked to seem to like the Case. They have concerns about the plastic wrap on the JDs. In my mind, you will probably get away with less compaction with a smaller module, and after all they only have to stay together until they get to the gin. Still those green in-line heads have a lot going for them. I've been saying for many years that if you could have green heads and a red basket, you would have the perfect picker. As for fires, it's not the problem it was years ago. Pressure doors are plastic and chute blockages are rare. Most fires these days are caused by loose slat bars being struck by a spindle. I reckon the best thing to do if you get a fire in one of these new pickers woud be to spit the lot out the back.
