Walt- that's an awesome looking bull. My other bull is the same breed, but only around 800 lbs right now. I hope he turns out like that. I'd have to keep him if he did. He's already serviced all my animals.
Here's some background: I just met the guy. He's about 3 miles away. He's 80 years old and he let me drive through his fields to get my silage wagons down a hill from land I was leasing.
So I had my wife make him a cake as a thank you and he nearly chewed me out about that. He didn't want anything in return for that favor. Had I known he needed a bull I would have just taken it over there as a thank you.
So to offer him another thank you, or do him a favor, would really tick him off. He's expecting to pay and wants to pay. This is PA dutch country, btw. People don't like to be treated special or feel they owe people favors in return. Business get taken care of as business.
I'm going to charge hime a small fee then. $10 per heifer. I think that will satisfy him and cover the time it takes me to round this animal up. I'm aware of the animal health risks. It's not worth worrying about though. I'll let the good Lord watch over the bull.
